November 30th

The holidays are on their way! Thanksgiving is over. Lego City actually ran out of turkey so everyone ate sausages Cookie prepared in his fire station kitchen, and also lots of side dishes made from all the breads, fruits and vegetables at the Green Grocer.

Now the neighborhood is putting up Christmas decorations. City Hall issues each public building (that means the "official city" buildings like police and fire stations, libraries and post offices) some tiny decorations to hang up. A lot of places just hang them on the door, but the fire crew at station number 3 wants it up high. Oh... isn't that kind of dangerous how they're leaning over the edge?? Definitely don't do that unless you're a firefighter!

The biggest event of the neighborhood is the hanging of the Grand Emporium's giant Christmas wreath. It's huge! It came from the old days when the building was new and people spent a lot of money on big decorations. Everybody gathers in the street to watch it go up right above the revolving doors. The Handyman's clothes blend in so well it's hard to see him!

It's giant size is not the only reason everybody cheers the wreath -- it also means the Emporium's official holiday season merchandise will soon be arriving from the factories. In the old days most things came from Battle Creek, Michigan, then from Mexico, and now from China. But if Alex or John ask, the answer will of course be that it comes from the North Pole.
